Campus Attractions
Tours
Tours of the Rice campus, led by undergraduate students, are offered weekdays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Saturdays beginning at 10:30 a.m., following an information session at 9:30 a.m. Schedules may vary during exam periods, and tours are not offered on university holidays. To verify tour schedules, contact the Office of Admission. These guided tours are informative and entertaining, and the student guides are well versed in campus life and tradition. Maps are available at the campus information desk in the Ley Student Center, and at the Welcome Center in Lovett Hall, if you wish to explore the campus on your own.
Events
Rice sponsors hundreds of art events, lectures, and symposia each year, and many are open to the public and free of charge. Events include operas, concerts, recitals, theatrical productions, art and photography exhibits, and film screenings. Lectures and symposia are often sponsored by endowed lectureships, campus organizations, and academic departments and other offices. A broad range of topics is covered throughout the course of the year. In addition, Rice competes in NCAA Division I-A athletics and fields 15 teams at the varsity level.
Information about campus events can be found weekly in the Rice News and the Thresher and is also available by calling the numbers listed below:
