Join Us for Rice Families Weekend Sept. 21-23 

There’s sure to be something for everyone at Rice’s annual Families Weekend, including Rice Owls football, lectures from legendary professors, art exhibits, mouth-watering Texas BBQ and more. Register online by Sept.­ 18­ at­ 11­ p.m.



New First-Year Writing Seminar 

The beginning of fall classes Aug. 20 was also the beginning of a new era of undergraduate education at Rice University. Last November, the Faculty Senate approved the addition of the Program in Writing and Communication and was formally launched in January 2012.



O-Week Welcomes Class of 2016 

Although Rice University’s Class of 2016 came together as strangers from all 50 states and across the globe, there was an overwhelming feeling of home and family as the freshmen moved to campus Aug. 12.

Each summer, a select group of Rice students are chosen to participate in Rice’s Summer Mentor Experience (SME), an initiative that combines academic learning with real-world experience. One of the most enthusiastic mentors in the program also happens to be a Rice parent.



Join the Parents Leadership Circle 

Rice is pleased to recognize parents who make gifts of $2,500 or more to the Rice Annual Fund as members of the Parents Leadership Circle. Leadership donors are recognized in Rice’s annual giving societies and are invited to a special leadership reception during Families Weekend every fall.
