Academic Assistance

Rice University encourages students to challenge themselves realistically with regard to their academic abilities, and most students struggle with academic work at some point during their time at Rice. In addition, most Rice students have high expectations and often are dissatisfied with course performance even when they are performing on average with other students in their courses. Whether a student is truly struggling or simply would like to increase understanding and skills, Rice University has numerous resources for academic assistance. Professors, teaching assistants, course recitations, residential college academic fellows and mentors societies and other university-wide resources are available. While the appropriate resource depends on the specific situation, using a combination of resources is always possible, and every effort will be made to point a student in the right direction. To determine the most appropriate academic assistance, please contact the Office of Academic Advising (4060).
