Transportation
In Houston
The greater Houston area includes more than 1,900 square miles, and METRO, the city of Houston's mass transit system, services the central areas of town, including Rice University, and provides commuter links to the suburbs during peak traffic times. METRORail runs from downtown, midtown, the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center and Reliant Stadium. A light rail stop is located just across the street from the Main Entrance to campus.
On Campus
The university provides convenient shuttle bus service for students,
faculty, staff and visitors. The Inner Loop bus runs Monday to Friday, every
5 to 10 minutes, stopping at designated stops
throughout the campus. The Rice Graduate Apartments (1515 Bissonnet) and the Rice Village
Apartments (2410 Shakespeare/Morningside ) and Greenbriar lot service runs every 15 minutes. The Texas Medical Center and BioScience Research
Collaborative operates from Monday to Friday, every 30
minutes. On Saturdays, shopping shuttle
service is available from campus to Target and Fiesta
from 11am-3pm every 30 minutes and the Graduate Apartments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every 45 minutes. Night Escort service is provided Sunday through Thursday
from 10pm - 6am. For the Night Escort service, call the dispatcher at

Zipcar service (a car
rental/membership service) is provided by Zipcar at very affordable rates for
students over 18 years. For information, please contact Zipcar.com/rice. Bus routes are operated by the Rice University Transportation
